What does being a clerk at PwC look like?

  • Drafting - preparation of deliverables and reports. 
  • Participating in meetings - involvment in face-to-face client meetings, conference calls and internal discussions across the different teams.
  • Data collection - managing requests for information, first review of client documents and conducting necessary searches. 
  • Research - researching case law and commentary on legislation for client legal advice. 
  • Project support - assisting with project and document management, ensuring filing is in order and maintaining document checklists. 
  • Pitches and proposals - assisting with the drafting of proposals of prospective clients and upcoming deals. 

Why join our community of solvers? 

If you're in your second last (penultimate) year of study, our Legal Clerkship Program offers you a four or eight-week paid placement at PwC. You'll gain a practical understanding of how to use legal skills to solve our client's problems. With the opportunity to work across a wide range of matters for different legal and business specialists teams, you'll gain exposure to the commercial aspects in action and learn what makes our holistic service legal practice truly unique.

You’ll work across key areas like Corporate Advisory, Workplace Law, Infrastructure & Energy Transition (Melbourne only), Banking & Finance (Melbourne only), and Digital, Cyber and Technology. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to pioneer legal innovation by working alongside NewLaw services which include GenAI, and cutting edge legal technologies. As a seasonal clerk, you'll dive into real client work, collaborate with colleagues from other service lines, access our innovative generative AI tools, and even get involved in pro bono projects.

Our Legal Teams

Corporate Advisory
Advise on all aspects of corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, restructures, foreign investment, financial regulation, initial public offerings and capital market transactions.
Digital, Cyber & Technology
Advise on all aspects of technology law, including the commercialisation of data and privacy, cyber security and strategy, cloud contracting and the Internet of Things, technology transformation and outsourcing, blockchain solutions and technology infrastructure.
Workplace Law
Advise on all aspects of employment and workplace relations, including Fair Work Act compliance, diversity and inclusion, industrial relations, deals, wage trust (payroll compliance) and organisational strategies.

Infrastructure & Energy Transition

Work with multiple stakeholders; owners, developers, financiers, lenders and contractors, to navigate and deliver infrastructure projects. Advise clients through the energy transition and their related ESG priorities.
Melbourne Only. 
Banking & Finance
Provide services for borrowers and financiers relating to projects and infrastructure finance, real estate finance, restructuring and insolvency and act for borrowers and financiers in acquisition and leveraged finance transactions, structured and asset finance transactions and general corporate finance.
Melbourne Only. 
New Law
Developing dynamic legal business solutions by integrating people, processes and technologies in innovative ways. Advise on generative AI-powered tools, new legal software, contract automation technology, legal department transformation, data insights and, review and remediation programs.
Sydney Only.

Applications open June 10, 2024 for Sydney and July 1, 2024 for Melbourne Prepare to apply for our Graduate program by finding where your skills fit and familiarising yourself with how we hire.

We'll be assessing applications immediately and progressing candidates who meet the program eligibility criteria to a digital interview. All applications will be reviewed.
Digital Interview This is the stage where we get to know you better and you to learn a little more about yourself! 

Your digital interview is your chance to bring your application to life. You'll be asked questions that will help us get to know you better and understand why you're interested in creating a career with us.
Assessment Centre This is where you get to put your problem solving skills to the test! 

As a part of a group, you’ll complete a case study assessment with a senior business representative from your chosen business area, and also a recent graduate from that team to share their experience - we will give you some tips on how to prepare for this when we invite you to complete it. 
Interview This is the last step! Hooray! 

The final part of our hiring process is a final interview with a Partner from the business area you are interested in joining. Again, this is a two way process - so come prepared with some questions to ask whilst you have this time with the most senior leaders of PwC!
