At PwC, she solves important problems facing Australia and the globe.
"One of the big problems I'm tackling right now is providing insights to ASX200 companies as to their readiness of ESG reporting," says Corinne. In November 2021, IFRS Foundation Trustees created a new standard-setting board called International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). The board's goal is to create a global baseline of sustainability-related standards, which will help investors and other capital market participants make informed decisions. "I provide assurance around our clients' environmental and social reporting, disclosures and impacts."
When asked about solving important problems, Corinne says it "means solving problems for our clients that impact broader society. As we enter a world where ESG has become the latest buzzword, it is important to build trust in society, especially around issues like 'ESGwashing'. Building trust is also critical around the impacts on First Nations Peoples with this year being extra important with the referendum scheduled."
Having started as a grad, Corinne believes PwC supports its people to find work that is meaningful. "PwC has been supportive in finding pathways aligned with my interests. My leaders encouraged and supported me in pivoting my career from Financial Audit to ESG Assurance."
When asked about the culture around her teammates and leaders, she says, "the support you receive from those you work with at all levels is incredible, and you never feel alone. We truly operate in a one-team mentality. There is also a great focus on supporting diversity and inclusion through different networks. I'm part of two networks: MOB Connect and Shine (an LGBTQI+ and allies group). Our leaders make sure that your well-being is always the number one priority. You can perform at your best when you are well supported as a human first. I can say that that's been true of my experience at PwC."
But what does she love most about PwC? Corinne says she "enjoys solving important problems as the work I do has the opportunity to make real change to society, both now and in the future, by making our complex world easier to navigate."
After three years with PwC, Corinne thinks the future at PwC is bright. "The opportunities in PwC are endless. I am still amazed by the variety and kinds of work we do".
