When you’re early in your career, growth can feel like something that happens eventually. For Chris Spiropoulos, that growth has been shaped by hands-on responsibility, trusted client relationships and the support of a team that backs its people to progress.

Chris joined PwC straight out of university in February 2023 as a Graduate in the Optimise team within PwC Private. Since then, his career has moved quickly — progressing to Senior Associate in January 2025 and Manager in January 2026 — a reflection of both his capability and the opportunities available within the business.

A role that spans the full client lifecycle

Now a Manager in PwC Private, Chris plays a key role in delivering outcomes for clients across a wide range of engagements. While part of his role involves reviewing recurring deliverables, he’s also expected to step in and complete work end-to-end when required — from preparation through to final delivery.

What sets the role apart is exposure to the full lifecycle of PwC’s services. “You don’t just see the front end of the work,” Chris explains. “You’re also involved in the thinking behind how PwC operates as a business, which gives you a broader understanding of how everything connects.”

Supporting private businesses of all shapes and sizes

Chris’ client portfolio spans not-for-profit organisations through to Australian subsidiaries of global multinationals — and it’s this diversity that keeps the work meaningful. “With smaller, not-for-profit clients, you’re often working very closely with the leadership team,” he says. “You feel like a genuine part of their business, and you can see the tangible outcomes of the work you’re doing.”

For larger multinational subsidiaries, the experience is different but equally rewarding. Chris enjoys gaining insight into how global businesses operate and supporting organisations that are new to the Australian market. “Being trusted to provide broad financial support to large, global entities is incredibly satisfying,” he says.

What makes PwC Private different

For Chris, one of the biggest differences about working in PwC Private is the depth of client relationships. “You’re able to get closer to your clients and build long-term relationships,” he says. “Because a lot of the work is recurring, you can actually see the businesses you support grow over time — which makes the work feel more personal and rewarding.”

That closeness also means feeling recognised and relied upon, both by clients and by leaders within the team.

Backed to grow, early

Career progression has been a defining part of Chris’ PwC experience. He credits the Optimise team’s leaders for providing strong support, guidance and exposure to a wide range of skills and perspectives. “The leaders within the team bring such varied experience,” he says. “That’s helped me develop my own way of working, and the nature of the client work has allowed me to take on more responsibility over time.”

That trust has accelerated his development. “Being given responsibility early helped me build confidence, prove myself and develop my skills much faster,” Chris reflects.

Looking ahead

When asked what excites him most about the future, Chris points to continued growth - both his own and his clients. “I’m excited to keep developing my skills and relationships, and to see how the businesses we work with continue to evolve in an ever-changing landscape,” he says.

For anyone considering a career in PwC Private, Chris sums it up simply:

"PwC Private offers early responsibility and the opportunity to build deep client relationships - helping you develop both technical and people skills from the very start of your career."
